TERMS.TXT - Terms, reporting and complaints

eChat.lol is a free, anonymous public chatroom run from the United Kingdom. By using it you agree to these terms and the chat rules. Last updated 14 October 2026.

1. Adults only

You must be 18 or over to use eChat.lol. If you're under 18, please leave. If we believe someone is under 18 we will remove them.

2. What's not allowed

Anything illegal is banned, and we remove it as soon as we know about it. That includes, but is not limited to:

  • child sexual abuse material, or anything that sexualises children or tries to contact, groom or meet a child
  • terrorism, or encouraging or glorifying it
  • threats, harassment, stalking, or encouraging suicide or self-harm
  • hate based on race, religion, sexuality, gender identity, disability or any other characteristic
  • fraud, scams, selling illegal goods, or sharing other people's personal information
  • intimate images of anyone, real or fake, and any pornography

The chat rules go further: nothing sexual, no links, no spam and no personal details at all, even your own.

3. How we keep it safe

Every message is checked automatically before anyone sees it, and doubtful ones are held for a human. Visitors can report any message, and several reports hide it at once. People who break the rules get timeouts and bans, which get longer each time. We may remove any message, for any reason, at any time. We report child sexual abuse material and credible threats to the police and the relevant authorities.

4. Reporting something

Tap a message and press 🚩 to report it to the moderators. For anything serious, or anything that isn't a single message, email hello@echat.lol. If someone is in danger right now, call 999 (UK), 911 (US) or your local emergency number.

5. Complaints and appeals

If you think we got something wrong (a message removed, a report ignored, a ban you don't deserve), banned visitors can use the appeal button on the ban screen, and anyone can email hello@echat.lol. A person reads every complaint. We aim to reply within 7 days, and if we were wrong we will put it right.

6. Your messages

Published messages are public and can be shared by link. You're responsible for what you post. You keep any rights in it, and give us permission to show it on eChat.lol. How we handle data is in the privacy notice.

7. Adverts

Sponsor adverts are paid for, checked automatically when booked, and labelled as adverts. Advertisers must follow the same rules and the UK advertising codes. We can refuse or remove any advert and refund it.

8. The boring bit

eChat.lol is provided as it is, for fun, with no guarantee that it works or stays online. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit. We may change these terms; the date above shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
